Vintage Maven // Minneapolis Portrait Photography

October 16, 2017 in Hired Work

I talk a lot about wanting to share people's stories through visual imagery. It's why I do what I do. The story first emerges when I meet the person and find out why they want their picture taken. It continues to unfold as we work together in the actual making of the images and we inevitably connect with one another as humans. The editing process is of course a part of it all - crafting the photos to fit the personalty and vibe of the amazing subject(s). But the final piece is my favorite: the blog post. It's where the whole story comes together in a comprehensive way. It's where my absolute favorite shots from the day are cohesively and carefully laid out to share a little bit about who that person is and why they do what they do.

I could tell you Amanda's story with words - how she's the incredible curator, stylist, and vintage guru behind the shop, Tandem Vintage. How she left an unfulfilling day job to pursue her dream and is damn good at it. And how she swore to me that she was awkward on camera, but ended up finding confidence she didn't even know she had and killed it in front of my lens. But those words alone wouldn't do Amanda justice - it's the pictures we took that show her true story of beauty and strength and impeccable style.
